A Talk by Laura Gutiérrez
Thursday, March 2nd, 2:00-3:00pm, reception to follow

Political cabaret mostly transpires in Mexico city’s nightlife. Its practitioners are mostly left-leaning queer or queer ally performers who use drag culture to critique of normative gender systems. Dr. Gutiérrez is an Associate Professor in the Performance as Public Practice Program, in Theatre and Dance, at the University of Texas at Austin & Associate Chair of Mexican American and Latina/o Studies. Sponsored by the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies. Co-sponsored by the Center for Gender, Sexualities, and Women’s Studies Research.
