Center for Gender, Sexualities, and Women’s Studies Research

The Center promotes research, education, and public engagement about gender, sexuality, and women across disciplines. The Center’s mission is to engage faculty and students across UF colleges and departments to advance anti-heterosexist, anti-racist, and anti-sexist understandings of how gender and sexuality function with other systems of power such as class, nation, and race; how these systems shape people’s access to opportunities, resources, and rights; and how this knowledge can be applied to benefit both social systems and the lives of individuals.

The Center promotes and supports initiatives across UF colleges and departments that enact this mission, including:

  • Lectures, conferences, and programs that engage campus and community publics
  • Collaborations that result in academic publications, grant applications, and public scholarship
  • Collaborations that have public impact and benefit local, national, and transnational communities
  • Awards, fellowships, and grants to faculty and students across UF
  • Communication networks across UF faculty affiliates, students, and the community
