ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Dr. Noralis Rodríguez-Coss is a Puerto Rican feminist scholar, activist, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, United States.  She was born and raised in Puerto Rico for her first 25 years until she moved to the United States to pursue graduate studies. Noralis earned anMA in Women’s Studies from Southern Connecticut State University and a Ph.D. in Feminist Studies from the University of Washington. She is a co-founder of the Island Feminisms Project. Noralis’ interdisciplinary scholarship focuses on issues concerning gender violence; social constructions of gender and islands; feminist activism and public protests; and global perspectives on gender and transnational feminism.
