Purpose. The purpose of the Center for Gender, Sexualities, and Women’s Studies Research is to support and encourage research, especially interdisciplinary research, on gender, sexuality, and women at the University of Florida.
Mission. The Center promotes research about gender, sexuality, and women across disciplines, including humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and arts. The Center brings together faculty and students across UF colleges and departments who apply different approaches to advancing knowledge. The Center promotes initiatives across UF by supporting:
- collaborations that result in academic publications, grant applications, and public scholarship
- collaborations that have public impact and benefit local, national, and transnational communities
- lectures, conferences, and programs that engage campus and community publics with an aim toward securing external funding
- communication networks across UF faculty affiliates, students, and the community
